  3. Well, I use technology daily in my classroom with my students. They use it to help them read and are often using it for word processing purposes. I signed up for the PD since I really would like to learn how to implement different technology ideas that may be more engaging into my class.

  4. As a new teacher I am always looking for different ways to use technology within my classroom, across subject areas. I think this PD will help me come up with fun/new ways to grab students' interest and allow them to demonstrate their learning in innovative/hands-on ways.

  5. This is my first year teaching a junior grade and I would love to find more ways to both engage the students but also connect with them in a manner that is versatile and flexible. I am hoping that this PD will help me learn practical ways of using technology as a tool in my classroom.

  6. I am old! An absolute dinosaur!! But the reality is that my students have grown up in a world that is all about technology. Last year, many of my current students thoroughly enjoyed a talented teacher who integrated technology throughout his program. What a tough act to follow! Like Liesl, Mandy and Kim, I also hope to learn some practical ways of using technology as a tool, to enrich my current program.

  7. I use technology on a daily basis in my Grade One classroom. We use a smartboard and document camera for a variety of subject areas including; language, literacy centers, math, social studies and health. I also have three laptops that the students use for literacy centers, mini research projects and other classroom assingments and an Imac that the students will be using starting January. I am very excited about this PD session as I have seen first hand how technology engages students and meets the needs of a variety of learning styles. I can not wait to learn about a new program that I can implement in my classroom so that the students have yet another method of demonstrating their learning in an engaging and creative way.

  8. I am very interested in technology and am in the process of trying to incorporate it effectively into my everyday lessons. Right now I have been using the smartboard to enrich my students learning in language, math and science. I also try to incorporate music into my lessons. My students have been using a CD player at the listening centre during language. I have just introduced one of my struggling students to the Cliker5 program on the computer to help him improve his reading and writing skills. The reason I have signed up for this PD is because technology is such a prominent tool in our students lives these days. Technology is what interests them and captures their attention. It is the language our students are speaking. I feel I can become a better educator if I am speaking the same language as my students and capturing their attention. I feel my students will be more engaged in learning activities when their interests are peeked and they are motivated and excited about the learning task.

  9. Integrating technology in the classroom has been my learning goal for the past three years. I have been learning so much myself in how to use it personally and am amazed at how much more technologically savvy my students are!! We used the smartboard for a month in October, and we became hooked. It was a very engaging tool for the students and the lessons were interactive so that even the wallflowers were active participants. I have also been experimenting with Bitstrips for Classrooms, and now would like to integrate various other programs to help students with a range of skills ranging from practicing spelling strategies to creating their own page on a class website. The use of technology as "homework" has excited the students to the degree that they have taken the initiative to use Bitstrips as a personal pastime!! How far we have come!

  10. I've been interested in incorporating more technology into my program but need to learn how to do so. This Pd will hopefully help increase my knowledge of the smartboard so I can use it in the new year.

  11. Hello, Everyone
I just wanted to post my congratulations to the 11 teachers and our wonderful technology teacher, Alex Macris, who took part in Job Embedded technology training on December the 9th at Charles Howitt. Believe it or not, teachers began using their new learning the next day by creating morning message glogs and experimenting with Photo Story . The last period of the day, was used to conduct video interviews with participating teachers. Once we get them all edited, we'll link them to this site.

  12. Hooray and congratulations to all on what sounds like a very successful day!
Looking forward to seeing those interviews, and taking some lessons from your experiences as we prepare Cheryl's school for a similar event.
Which sessions/topics did teachers find most useful? Least useful?
